LAJNA Session, Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 3:00-5:30 p.m.
3:00-5:00 p.m.         “Lessons Learned From Surah Luqman”
Surah Luqman: Universal moral principles. The way to success is through correct belief and correct action (Tafseer-e-Sagheer).  Hadhrat Luqman’s (as) advice to his son is preserved in the Holy Qur’an for a reason. There are many important injunctions; some examples are given below:

  1. Abstain from Shirk
  2. Give thanks to/ be kind to your parents
  3. Act with integrity: not even the smallest thing is hidden from Allah
  4. Observe Prayer
  5. Enjoin good/ forbid evil
  6. Steadfastness: endure patiently
  7. Avoid pride/ arrogance
  8. Moderate your walk
  9. Lower your voice

Format: Small group discussion followed by a panel of speakers to discuss the advice given by Hazrat Luqman to his son.  We will use these verses to reflect on our behavior and practices as a parent and a child.

Poems will be recited in different languages in praise of the Holy Qur’an

6:30-8:00 p.m.         COMBINED EVENING SESSION (men and women)
